I loved this manga, with every part of me.
It was cute, it was fluffy, the art was AMAZING.
The character proporation design changed from the beginning to the end, and the drawing style of those funny illustrations did, too.
The story line is the commonly used "Regular person x Mafia boss" thing, but this one followed one of the fewer parts of that plot.
Euijoon-ah was never involved in any part of Ahjussi's mafia - he wasn't used as Ahjussi's weakness from a rival group, nor was he a money launderer, and he didn't even come in contact with the mafia - aside from Hyunie.
A handful of chapters were used for Ahjussi's background, yet they told so much - And his background was fairly different from the vast majority of mafia boss's I've seen. Rather than him going through hardship of competition, or bring the adopted kid who wanted to prove himself, or even being the cliché "ambition drive" man. No. Ahjussi was the adopted kid who proved he was strong by being tested by a father's hatred for his own son (who lacked the ability to fulfill the father's ambition), that wasn't Ahjussi. It's unique, which is truly something new.
The humor in this story is blended in crafty-like, and well mended. (So much so that, I am unable to recall any in-text without thinking of more that fell along). The memes at the end of each chapter were nice to see, some of them were very relatable - others left the readers reminders of moments in old chapters, and I thought that was very helpful.
The translations throughout the story were easy to understand and the text made the translations easy to read - not many long mangas have consistent text and translations. I am grateful.
I've never seen a manga do that, it's very pleasing - to see the different from the past and the present, it's simply satisfying).
Even with the completed story, 88 chapters, and (possibly, but not yet confirmed) side stories (This will become an "old post", so by the time some viewers may see this, side stories may already be out - don't think ill of me for reading this earlier than you), I still wish more 'tests' of Ahjussi and Euijoon's relationship would be shown.
I thought it was extremely sweet how Ahjussi took care of Euijoon, exclusively. (I'm the type who likes protective, possessive, and doting semes).
(I do kinda wish Ahjussi would get a little more mad when anyone caused Euijoon issues, but with the way the story went - They didn't really need it).
It did start off with a cliché beginning ("Seme helping uke forget abt some other guy, with s**") but then went completely off on its own. They did get off to a very awkward start, but then it became a comfort that neither character could replace with someone else.
But it ALL turned out OKAY.
This is truly an amazing peice, I - and I'm sure many, many, MANY other readers/viewers also - thank the Authors, illustrators, and translators for Dangerous Connivence store.
Peace ✌
